The Oregon State University Extension Service has developed an
interactive, research-based, on-line learning series with an option for direct instructor contact.  It will be called
“Mastery of Aging Well.” 

The five-course series will be in an online format with instructor-narrated PowerPoint presentations, imbedded video featuring older adults talking about aging issues as well as hands-on learning materials  Examples of the materials include: memory enhancement games, depression measurement scales, portion control tools.

The five courses are 1) Memory Difficulties: Should I Be Worried? 2) Depression in Later Life 3) Medication Jeopardy 4) Food as Medicine? and 5) Physical Activity and Exercise: Aging Bodies in Motion. The courses can be taken individually or as a series.

 

Other educational offerings for Living Well in Southern Oregon...

 Strong Women -- A Tufts University program developed by Dr. Marion Nelson is offering daily strength training classes. Women (and men) participate in 45-minutes to 1 hour of prescribed strength training routines using free weights and leg weights, which are provided as part of the cost of the class. Participants in these classes have realized improvements in endurance, balance, flexibility and overall strength.

WATCH:  Community Cable Television’s Extension Program “Healthy Living”. Time changed to 2nd Thursday of each month, aired at 6 pm and re-broadcast through-out the month. Web site: www.roguetv.org. Hosted by OSU Extension faculty, Sharon Johnson.
